Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Chang attended college at Brown University where he obtained his B.S. in computational molecular biology. He then moved to Atlanta and obtained a master’s degree in evolutionary biology.  After spending a few years teaching and doing genomics research, he pivoted towards dentistry and attended the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where he obtained his D.D.S. degree.

While attending dental school, he moved to Alameda where he fell in love with the island city and it’s charm. Here, he met Dr. Bruce Bothwell, a longtime Alameda dentist, and began treating patients with him.

In his free time, Dr. Chang enjoys fishing, bicycling, and exploring the great outdoors. He also loves cooking and spending time with his wife, son, and two cats.
